Covid-19

STATEMENT RECEIVED FROM CITY & GUILDS – 26 MARCH 2020

COVID-19 Impact upon Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR)

20 March 2020

We are aware of the increasing difficulties Street Works Operatives and Supervisors are experiencing in renewing Street Works cards owing to the Coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak related closures of assessment centres and other parts of the Street Works accreditation system.

The Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR) has sought advice from Department for Transport (England, Wales, Northern Ireland) and Transport Scotland.  In line with this the following JAG (UK) statement was issued to all Street Authorities earlier this week:

“It is essential that Street Works do not stop entirely and some cards will lapse through no fault of the holders.  We are therefore, writing to ask that Street Authorities bear this in mind with regards to card enforcement policy for the next six months or so.

The Department of Transport is aware of this note.

We thank you for your patience and understanding.”

David Capon

JAG (UK) Manager

In line with the JAG statement issued, SWQR will provide an exemption over the next 6 months to card holders where their card has expired between Tuesday 17 March 2020 and Thursday 17 September 2020.

FARLEYS TRAINING LTD

COVID 19 Policy Statement

The impact of the coronavirus on our everyday lives has become even greater as we all face unprecedented times.  This has resulted in us making changes as to how we operate our business and ensure that we can make you as safe as is reasonably practicable whilst attending our courses. Thermal testing shall be carried out daily on all candidates and employees.  It is our intention to fully comply with Government Guidance in relation to COVID 19, which we monitor closely.

As we continue to adapt to these unprecedented times, we’re working hard to balance client expectations of providing quality training experiences, whilst also protecting their workforce and individuals who attend our courses.

Changes have necessarily been made in our arrangements and these will be communicated via our amended joining instructions.  We are re-scheduling our courses so that only our large classroom is used, enabling us to reduce the number of candidates on site at any one time, serving to ensure the 2 metre social distancing rule is complied with.

We are using our other classroom for tea and coffee making for the candidates at staggered times, this will help minimise candidates congregating within the kitchen area of the training room.  This area shall be subjected to an enhanced cleaning regime.

We have hand sanitiser stations outside our office, outside the classroom, outside the tea and coffee room and on the wall of our practical task area.

On arrival candidates will note that there is a sign by the door of the office which must be read prior to entering. Information posters are freely displayed throughout the site to reinforce the message.

Candidates will only be allowed to use the toilets, one person at a time, where hot running water and soap are both provided.  Access to the Reception Office will be similarly controlled, one person at a time, having used the hand sanitiser before entry.
